We are PWCC. We're based in Tigard, Oregon and are the largest trading card marketplace in the world. PWCC is brokering nearly a half-billion in trading card sales annually (and you thought those baseball cards in your mom's basement were worthless!), with the goal of becoming the go-to resource for trading card research, investment, and protection. We are growing rapidly and need the right person to expand our team and help us provide the care our client base needs.

Position Overview:

Reporting to the Director of Development, the Front-End Developer is responsible for a variety of duties and responsibilities in support of the company’s Development department. The PWCC Marketplace products offer our members industry leading technology. The development staff provides members views into their auction submissions and vault portfolios. We are constantly developing new features and tools to help investors make the most of their trading cards. Behind the scenes, we develop the tools for our staff to monitor auctions, curate portfolios, manage inventory and communicate with our buyers and sellers. This role will be based in our Tigard, OR office with remote capabilities.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Enhance the front-end/presentation layer of our Marketplace websites. You will be a front-end developer with a passion for the fit and finish of your UI. You will crave automated tests for the value they bring your world class UI code.
  • Develop best-in-class software solutions in JavaScript integrated with both server-side PHP and REST services.
  • Touch all layers of a PHP/Laravel stack and be fearless in your desire to learn technologies that might be new to you.
  • Follow PWCC UX designs and guidelines providing options to the designers that integrate well with our software solutions. They’re the presentation and UX designers but you need to be sure that their crisp and elegant designs will function flawlessly.
  • Work on a team of broadly different backgrounds to a common goal of making the PWCC Marketplace venues the absolute standard of trading card sales.
  • Bring your experience to the development team and make everyone’s deliveries better with your ideas as you learn from the experience of the team.
  • Dig in and help when the company needs your expertise. We are a small company with big dreams and even bigger accomplishments. You will be instrumental in driving top line revenue in this role; something most developers can’t say about their positions.
  • Ensure that you follow Devops and releasing best practices as defined by the team.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience developing front ends married to various backend architectures.
  • JavaScript development expertise in React or Vue or other framework or library. Know how to debug, deploy, and develop your solutions. We strongly desire Typescript devotees in the near term
  • PHP/Laravel skill a must. You don’t have to be an expert on server-side development, but you must be willing to dip in that side of the stack. Convince us you will learn PHP and we’ll be satisfied.
    • All other language experience is helpful.
  • Strong team skills are a necessity. We’re nearly fully remote and our success as a team comes from collaboration and a sense of kinship and ownership. We’re all in this together and we work as a team to accomplish the company’s directives.
  • Agile experience, e.g. Scrum is useful. At a minimum you will be embracing scrum and iterative development.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. We spend time on video calls and on Slack so you must be able to communicate via modern means succinctly and completely.
  • PWCC is a 24/7 business and at times the development team works outside traditional workday hours. Generally, the team is west coast based and the servers are based in PST and maintenance is done during appropriate times for our business. Be willing to be available during PWCC business hours then flex your remaining work schedule as you need.
